Violinists Régis Pasquier and Raphaël Oleg, violists Bruno Pasquier and Jean Dupouy, and cellists Roland Pidoux and Etienne Péclard are a marvelous ensemble, fully engaged and conversational in their distinctive voicings, and unified and balanced as a group. While the Sextet is not especially profound or innovative -- it is decidedly "young man's music" -- there are rich textures, warm lyrical expressions, and some rhythmic inventions that anticipate the mature works.
