True to form, Harmonia Mundi has released another fine title in its Musique d'abord series, a worthwhile reissue of Brahms performances recorded in 1982 and previously released in 1996. The only caveat worth mentioning is the ADD recording, which is a little troubling for some tape hiss in places. But the performances of Brahms' Sextet No. 1 in B flat and the Piano Trio No. 3 in C minor are exquisitely polished and emotionally satisfying, so the sound problems will seem slight to most listeners.
