In the 1990s, quite a few bands proudly flew both the stoner metal and doom metal flags. And just what is the difference between the two genres, you ask? The answer is...not exactly a whole lot, as bands from both genres often worshiped Black Sabbath, as evidenced by the riff-heavy music and the fact that lyric-wise, each tended to be very similar to two specific Sab songs -- "Hand of Doom" (for doom metal) and "Sweet Leaf" (for stoner metal).
