Although this book is an oldie anyone interested in Michigan?s rich copper history should take the time to read it. Mr. Murdoch?s writing style will have the reader moving through the pages and chapters wishing there was no end to the book. He writes in such a fashion that the reader can be transformed to the place and time of the people and places in the book. Also there is a rich amount of technical information about the tools and techniques that the early miners used to gather the red metal. Much of what Murdoch wrote about still remains in the form of ghost towns and remains of stone buildings. There is even a tour into the Quincy Mine hill that is run by the local collage. I would recommend a trip to the Keweenaw to anyone interested in seeing this history up close.
