Excerpt from Bonner Jahrb???cher, 1898, Vol. 103: Jahrb???cher des Vereins von Altertumsfreunden im Rheinlande Die Figur ist 14 cm hoch und nat???rlich voll gegossen; sie ist nach dem Gasse in allen Teilen auf das sorgf???ltigste ciseliert und ganz vortrefflich er halten. Die Oxydation hat nirgends die Oberfl???che angegriffen; der goldene Ton des Metalls schimmert mehrfach unter der dunkeln Pafina hindurch; nur an tiefliegenden und rauhen Stellen ist gr???nliche Oxydation sichtbar. Von den langen Fl???geln des Petasos ist das Ende des einen verbogen, das des anderen abgebrochen. Nach einw???rts verbogen ist auch der linke Zeigefinger nebst dem Ende des Stabes auf der Linken, ???ber welchen gleich noch n???her zu sprechen ist. Die Spitze der Nase ist etwas besch???digt. Das Band, an welchem der K???cher h???ngt, ist mit der Figur in Bronze gegossen, allein darauf ist ein starker Streif Silber gelegt, der sich nun sehr h???bsch abhebt vom dunkeln K???rper. Die Aug???pfel sind indess nicht eingesetzt und nur die Pupillen durch Gravierung hervorgehoben. Dagegen waren die Brust warzen, wie so h???ufig, aus rotem Kupfer eingelassen; erhalten ist nur die gesch???tzt liegende linke, w???hrend an der rechten der Kupfereinsatz herausgefallen ist. Sehr sorgf???ltig ciseliert sind die kurzen Locken des Haares. Die kleine mit der Spitze nach oben gerichtete dreieckige Pubes ist nur durch gravierte Punkte bezeichnet. In gleicher Weise, durch eng gestellte gravierte Punkte, ist der Stoff des Rates charakterisiert; und das gleiche Verfahren hat der K???nstler endlich auch am Gewande angewendet, dessen schweren Wollestoff er durch weiter gestellte gravierte Punkte belebt hat, um das Gewand vom N sekten noch st???rker abzuheben. Es ist dies ein Verfahren, das wir schon an altgriechischen Bronzen zuweilen bemerken, vgl. Samml. Somzee Nr. 83 und die im Texte dazu S. 52 abgebildete Pariser Bronze, ferner die gewiss nicht einen Diadochen, eher Pan darstellende griechische Bronze A r 11 dt, Portr???ts Nr.
