The Dukes of Dixieland were one of the top trad bands of the 1950's and 60's, particularly in the early 1960's. With trumpeter Frank Assunto, trombonist Fred Assunto and clarinetist Jerry Fuller as their frontline, they made for a particularly exciting group. Unfortunately both of the Assuntos died fairly young from cancer and by the mid-1970's the Dukes were history.
