The Popular Press edition constitutes the first publication of Woolrich'd autobiography. the typescript had not been fully editied at his death in 1968, when it was discovered in a saftey deposit box by his representatives of Columbia University, his designated heirs. Bassett's editorial decisions have been on a study of the marginalia in the edited typescripts of two novels in Columbia's Cornll Woolrich Archives: "Waltz into Darkness" and "Night Has a Thousand Eyes".
