The author is a baby boomer, raised in Florida during her early teens, but most of her life in a suburb of New York City. A lot of the sayings in this book seem insulting, but humor was different in the 1960s and 70s. Young adults would jibe each other for fun, but sometimes insults were really just that. When the author would say certain phrases to her daughter, she wouldn't understand what she was talking about. That's when she realized that a lot of the old sayings, from her parents' and grandparents' day, were disappearing, and even from her own boomer generation. A lot of colloquialisms, idioms and slang are particular to the part of the country where a person was raised, but some are more universal. This book is humorous and just for fun. I hope you enjoy it!
