Excerpt from Blairsville Souvenir and Industrial Prospectus: Illustrated; Issued Under the Auspices of the Blairsville Board of Trade All of this amount was expended in the purchase of the property and the fitting up and furnishing the Library and Reading Room and for a supply of books. A valuable collection of books was also donated by the Y. M. C. A. Of Blairsville. Every year since the organization there has been additions made to the books. The rooms of the Library Association are pleasantly and conveniently located on Market street, near the public square. They are supplied with a well chosen collection of some 1000 volumes, and with the current monthly magazines, 'and illustrated weekly papers. Any one who desires to do so has the privilege of using the Reading Room and reading any of the books, magazines or papers without any charge. When books are to be taken away from the library an annual charge of is made or a de posit required. The rooms are open, excepting on Sunday, from 2 to 4 p. M. And 7 to 9 p. M. The Library has been supported from the annual dues and from the contribution of those interested in its welfare. Recognizing the great good accomplished in the community by the Library and Reading Room, our progressive and liberal Town Council, who are ever willing and ready to encourage all enterprises which tend to promote the welfare of our town have made a liberal appropriation to aid in the support of the Library. Strangers are always made welcome and will receive every attention from the Librarian. The ladies have always taken active interest in the Association and its success is largely due to their efforts. In addition to the Library and Reading Room there is on exhibition an interesting collection of stuffed birds and a cabinet of minerals which will repay examination and which the man agement hope to be able to increase in the near future. The present officers are Antes Snyder, President Miss Janet Richey, Secretary Mrs. D. M. Kier, Treasurer. The Board of Managers are; Mrs. T. C. Watson, Mrs. Antes Snyder, Miss Janet Richey, Miss Anna Stitt, Hon. John Hill, Dr. L. S. Clagett, D. M. Fair, M. J. Lewis, W. P. Graff and Antes Snyder.
