Though better known as a choral director in superb recordings of motets by Bach, Brahms, and Bruckner, Best turns in capable and energetic leadership, and he clearly enjoys leading the music. The Corydon chorus is impeccable; the Corydon orchestra is professional with lovely solos by harpist Skaila Kanga; and Hyperion's digital sound is clear, cool, and detailed. If this were the only recording of the work available, L'Enfance du Christ would be well represented.
