Claire is about to get married. In Vera Wang, with a diamante-encrusted train and a spectacular Bulgari necklace (a gift from her husband-to-be) she is marrying Randall Pearson Cox II, an MD at Goldman Sachs and the man of her dreams. But Claire has reckoned without the boss from hell: Vivian Grant, a woman who churns out bestsellers with the same frequency as she sends traumatized assistants flying out of her office in tears - the publishing world's most ruthless tyrant. As Claire finds her career teetering on the edge of meltdown, she also begins to doubt her own heart. Can she survive Vivian Grant's middle-of-the-night phone calls, the abuse, the tantrums? I read this despite my fears that it would just like "The Devil Wears Prada" with a different setting. I am happy to say it is a much better book. I really enjoyed this book. I liked the characters much better and I understood their motivations better. Vivian Grant makes the boss in "Devil" look sane. The story makes you root for Claire because we have all worked for a boss that does the things she does because she can. Give this book a chance. If you liked "The Devil Wears Prada" you will love this book. If you did not, give this book a try you might get a welcomed surprise like I did.
