Seller's Description:
None. Very Good. A first edition of this novel by H. Rider Haggard, later claimed by the author himself to be 'one of the best bits of work I ever did'. 'Beatrice' was H. Rider Haggard's eleventh novel, and one of few works that doesn't deal with Africa as a subject matter.H. Rider Haggard (1856-1925) was an English novelist primarily known for his works of adventure fiction, including 'She' and 'King Solomon's Mines'. The majority of his works have exotic settings, primarily Africa, and he was an extremely prolific writer, producing over fifty novels, three short story collections and a number of non-fiction works and works published in periodicals. His works have been adapted for screen many times. This is a first edition. Contains sixteen pages of publisher's advertisements bound to the rear. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally a trifle rubbed, a touch of fading to the spine, which is slightly cocked. Minor chips to the head and tail of the spine and marks to the bound. Internally firmly bound, pages are generally bright and clean, bar the odd spot. Very Good.
