There is a virtually inexhaustible supply of Baroque music, yet two pieces inevitability appear on compilations: Pachelbel's Canon and the Albinoni/Giazotto Adagio. They appear here in slightly up-tempo readings, but Karl Münchinger and the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra still deliver them with too much romantic ardor for them to be considered properly Baroque. Beyond these retreads, the rest of the selections are rather fresh and are this disc's saving grace. Alexander van Wijnkoop and Camerata Bern offer pleasant and jovial ...
