Weithaas conveys a thoughtful mood throughout, using touches of rubato almost as a reflection of her considered approach, and she generally avoids flashiness, though her playing of BWV 1006 is as bright and virtuosic as many other violinists' readings, and the dazzling display of technique in the Danse rustique in Ysaÿe's Sonata No. 5 is sure to impress listeners looking for fireworks.
