I read this book around 40 years ago as a 10 year old. I was mesmerized by this adventurous story. I imagined myself in the situation and thought I'd love to have an opportunity to be stranded on an island with a bunch of babies.
I'm now having my 9 year old daughter read this book. I see the same excitement in her as she reads this book. I just know one day she will be sharing it with her children.

Great Book!
I had a copy of this book when I was only 10-14 yrs old and loved it. I recently found it in my library and am reading it aloud to my five children ages 5-12. They won't let me put it down! I like the clean content, plenty of adventure without the typical gruesome things todays books and movies consider adventure. I still find this book as fascinating and interesting as I did 25 years ago! I have 4 boys and 1 girl, so one can't say it is a "girlie" story ....I suppose the setting and Mr Peterkin attracts the boys!
