Seller's Description:
Near Fine in Very Good+ jacket. Oblong 8vo. 386 pp., 10 maps. updated and translated from the German edition of 1968, this is a major reference work with extensive and accurate tabulation of Axis submarine successors in WWII. The author researched every possible source in both Allied and Axis countries-war diaries, personal interviews, code-breaking material, shipping line files, etc. The book contains a wealth of detailed information in an easy-to-use format and is divided into two parts. The first shows, in tabular form, the outcome of every successful submarine attack reported by the German, Italian, Japanese, Finnish, Rumanian, and Vichy-French navies. Each attack is listed chronologically, giving name of vessel, captain, and type of weapons used. Comparative data from Allied and neutral sources are also given where possible, confirming losses, battle damage assessments, ship type, and displacement. The second part is comprised of detailed indexes, allowing the reader to quickly locate the attacks of individual submarines and commanders, Allied convoy losses, and the name of every ship sunk or damaged. Ten maps or grid charts provide a useful overview of Axis submarine operations. Clean.
