Moss-green boards have 'faded' interestingly to a more vivid green on spine, with gilt lettering title having acquired a 'shadow'. A few marks along top edge of pages. Dust jacket has full-colour illustration of 'Dora Creek' by J.J. Hilder (1916). Heavily illustrated throughout in black-and-white as well as colour, the author provides a detailed critical examination of all the major exponents of watercolour in Australia over the previous 200 years-beginning with the early European explorers and navigators who wanted to make pictorial records of its landscape, its unusual (to them) flora and fauna, and of its indigenous inhabitants.
