Il dipinto donato ??? uno dei cinque suoi quadri che ammiram'mo nella mostra di belle arti dello scorso anno, quello, cio???, in cui con tanta potenza di concetto e di pennello raffigur??? gli estremi istanti del Doge Marino Faliero. Questa gemma della nostra collezione moderna richiamando alla mente ed allo sguardo altra'sua pregiata tela premiata da quest'accademia nel grande concorso di pittura del 4812, riassume in certa guisa le varie evoluzioni dello stile e dei modi di lui, che nel periodo 'di cinquantacinque anni corsi tra 1' una e l'altra tela, seppe, nuovo Giambellino, piegarsi allo spirito del tempo ed alle mutate tendenze dell'arte, senza se crificare le proprie convinzioni e la propria origi nalit???, e segnando il suo cammino con sempre nuovi trionfi.
