Ist die Schleimhaut nur wenig aufgewulstet. so konnen die anatomischen Details der inneren Trommelhohlenwand deutlich unterschieden werden. Ist sie hingegen durch massenhafte Zelleninfiltration um das Mehrfache ihres normalen Durchmessers verdickt und infiltrirt, und die Vertiefungen der Promontorialwand ausgeglichen, so erscheint sie als ebene oder drusige, rothe Flache, an der keine Details mehr unterschieden werden konnen. Perforationen vor dem Hammergriff, die bis nahe zur vorderen Trommelfellperipherie reichen, lassen ausser dem vorderen Abschnitte der inneren Trommelhohlenwand auch die dunkle Vertiefung des Ost. tymp. tubae erkennen (VII, 9, 10, 13). Ist die hintere Trommelfellhalfte defect, so konnen je nach der Ausdehnung der Perforationsoffnung das vorspringende Promontorium, uber diesem die Ambossstapesverbindung (VII, 21) und unterhalb des Promontoriums und etwas nach hinten von ihm die dunkle Nische des runden Fensters unterschieden werden (VII, 24, 27).
