Satan's Pilgrims seem rather unconcerned with changing the sound of pure surf at all. At Home with Satan's Pilgrims swings through all of the territory between the Ventures and Dick Dale, and does so with a good deal of efficacy. Unfortunately, this is a narrow sound that probably won't appeal to listeners over a long string of albums, and At Home with Satan's Pilgrims probably isn't the most worthwhile of the band's releases -- Around the World is a decidedly better starting point (and the most appealing of the group's work), and tends to make the work on the band's other albums seem like a somewhat unnecessary side note. ~ Nitsuh Abebe, Rovi
