Good. Large octavo, 426pp., illustrated. A good copy in the publisher's blue cloth, decorated in gilt. Spine quite dulled, edges with some rubbing, and the inner hinges starting (thinly cracked at the title page). Lacking the scarce dust jacket. This copy SIGNED and generically inscribed by Adams on the front free endpaper in blue crayon or pencil: "Best of wishes, Evangeline Adams." Someone else has written the words "To Edna" below in a different pen. Adams was perhaps the most famous astrologer of her day, and ran a thriving fortune-telling business in New York. She gained infamy after encouraging her followers to invest heavily in the stock market just a few weeks before the crash of 1929. Before that, however, she had been an impressive figure, successfully defending her right to practice astrology in court several times. She died in 1932, less than two years after this book was printed.
