I bought this book to complete Ansel Adams' series, still need "The Print". Along with Fred Picker's "Zone IV Workshop, Adams' series is a must for anyone wanting to express their vision in print. This all pre-dates the advent of Photoshop and digital cameras which allows the composer to create special effects in a matter of minutes whereas before the photographer would sometimes wait for hours for the conditions to all come together in producing that one special immortalizing shot. But then again, one may just get lucky. Adams' "Artificial Light Photography" will give some the general idea of using light in the studio while adapting newer lighting equipment for the purpose and for others provide the inspiration and vision of the older masters of photography.
