Art of Just Cooking
This book has been one of my prize possessions since it was bought for me by my wife when she was working in the accessions and cataloguing department of a municipal library in east London during the early 1970s. Knowing my interest in far eastern philosophy, zen, and macrobiotic cookery she ordered a copy for me. Not only is it an excellent guide to cuisine of the east, it contains illustrations of outstanding clarity and beauty.
My son has developed his own interests, paralleling and surpassing my own early passions. Knowing of this, I was delighted to see that the book was still available for sale, albeit in used condition and I ordered the book for him. So the copy I'm reviewing is not one I've personally touched, since we both live in different countries. Nevertheless, I'm pleased to report that it's been received by him with as much enthusiasm as I felt when I first opened my copy.
