Wow! This is not a Downton Abbey kitchen. Mollie worked much harder than Daisy, and her boss was tougher than Mrs. Patmore. That being said, Mollie, who began at the bottom, kept her wits about her and learned all she could, eventually working her way up the ladder to become a chef in her own right. In the memoir she talks about sneaking down a ladder to go to a dance, about boy friends, how close she was to her parents, and her dad's terrible health the result of being gassed in WW I. There is not a dull page in the book. I would loved to have had as a friend.
