Very Good. No dust jacket as issued. Book Early imprint dated 1886 on the title page with no additional printings listed. Clean and tightly bound in red cloth. Extremely slight edge wear and spine slant, remains Very Good. The contents include sixty-three illustrations of ape anatomy and environments. Shelf wear and slight shaking to binding, rear free endpaper is lacking and pastedown shows small scuffs. This copy is from a 19th Century private lending institution, the Mercantile Library of New York City. The Mercantile Library stamp and number are on the title page and some of the internal pages. There are no external indications of the library's ownership.
