This large and luxurious volume was published in 1982 at the price of £40.00 sterling in the UK. I was just about to be married and could not afford to spend such a large sum of money. I already possessed a number of Keith Money's other publications: "The Art of the Royal Ballet", "The Royal Ballet Today", "The Art of Margot Fonteyn" and "Fonteyn, the making of a legend" which were the most prized books in my classical ballet library. For the last 25 years I have been searching for a copy of "Anna Pavlova: her life and art" in all the second hand bookshops in England. In January, I was reading a magazine which detailed the services of Alibris. To my delight I was able to order a copy, shipped from a bookstore in Ohio for the amazing inclusive price of £24.45 sterling. When the parcel came I was so excited. This is the definitive book on the ballerina Anna Pavlova with a scholarly text, accompanied by hundreds of photographs, many that were previously unpublished. The sepia toned text and creamy paper lends an air of antiquity to the book. The copy that I received was in excellent condition. There is a little rubbing on the dust jacket, but otherwise it looks as though it has never been opened. I regard it as a personal treasure. It is lovely to think that a book no one wanted, has found a haven with me, on the other side of the world, in a rural English village.
