Missing part 38 (page 373-399 of volume 2) and missing parts 63-68 (last part of volume 6). Each part consists of approx. 28 pages plus either 2 full page engravings on wood or 1 full page color oleograph representing the Animal World. Includes 31 Oleographs and 60 full page engravings on wood on slick paper. Accompanied by full descriptive test. Many hundreds of exquisite illustrations interspersed through the text. The issues were originally issued every 2 weeks. They were "Issued by subscription only and not available in bookstores". Wrappers of each issue: several are missing and some split at hinge, some with tear along edges others are near perfect. Oleographs 8 1/4" x 5" are attached onto the center of a sheet some of which may have tear at edges. Oleographs by L. Prang & Co. of Boston. often with tissue. Volume 1 pages 1-626. Volume 2 pages 1-372 and pages 400-624. Vol. 3, 4, 5 & 6 pages 1-426-missing end of volume 6. Page edges uncut. Generally very good or better condition. Exquisite color oleographs.
