What a cool little book!
I was raised on a very pretty farmette, complete with a babling brook and tons of animals. My parents chose to name our farm Animalia, after this very same book. We owned all of Barbara Berger's books, with their beautiful illustrations and magical stories. Now that I am grown with children of my own, I recently ordered a copy of this book, and I truly enjoyed sharing it with my own sons. A great introduction to folk tales for the very young, it's one of the prettiest books I've ever read.

A beautiful little book, a series of 1-page stories (mainly fables, myths, and folktales from around the world), gorgeously illustrated in a style very much influenced by medieval manuscripts. A lovely book for children and adults.
