As the California sun bears down on her, thirteen-year-old Andi Carter is ready for adventure! She lives on the Circle C Ranch in the year of 1881. The main plot of the book begins when Andi's friend Cory, gets his hands on a map of Fresno Flats, which shows where old gold diggings and mines are. Andi has another friend, Jenny, who is visiting for the summer. 3 kids and a treasure map equal a heap of trouble. Andi's older brother is also in on some of the schemes, and you can't forget Taffy, Andi's palomino horse.
I can't give much more of the story away, but there's bank robbers, an invigorating camping trip, gold fever, jail cells and someone gets terribly hurt. But that's what happens when a group of kids look at a treasure map together.
My personal thoughts: It was my first book to read by Susan K. Marlow, and I did like her writing style. It actually was a very unique story! The characters, the details from that time period, the bold schemes... it is a very enjoyable book to read.
