Loved this book when it first was pubished and was thrilled to find it still available on Alibris. Enjoyed it just as much if not more the second time around. Gives a wonderful insight into the eras it covers (post Civil War until beginning of the Depression) - every word rings true. Can recommend it without reservation. Characters, descriptions, politics, all are vivid and interesting.

One of my top 5 favorite books!
This is truly one of the best books I have ever read! It is the story of several young women, graduating from a ladies academy, and their lives together in a small 19th century Ohio town. With a story that spans over 60 years, the reader becomes immersed in their marriages, children, and grandchildren - the everyday struggles all families face, and the importance of friendship and loyalty. As a librarian, I especially enjoyed the account of these young women forming a book club, and later founding the town's first public lending library. "And Ladies of the Club" is a book to be read and re-read, treasured and enjoyed over and over again.
