This book as with all of Debbie's life is a reflection of her heart for the Lord and for the people of Haiti. She always says that she only desires to be Christlike, Loving and Honest. This drives every heart decision and has forever changed Haiti as well as blessed all those who know her. The honest sharing of the lessons learned by failing forward will encourage and inspire your servant's heart and strengthen your faith no matter what land He may send you to. In 1986 Debbie married Ohio State Buckeye football player, William (Bill) Harvey and moved to Northern Virginia. As a wife and mother of three young children and after many invitations by her husband to visit one of the poorest nations in the world, Debbie reluctantly agreed to a short trip to Haiti. This was the trip that changed her life. Debbie left Haiti with a shocking glimpse into the starvation and homelessness of Haitian children and made an agreement with her husband to give her emotional struggle of wanting to help these children, 30 days. Bill believed that in 30 days, these feelings would fade and their lives would return to normal. This is where Debbie's heart was transformed and the "Helping Haitian Angels" story begins and her successes and "failing-forward" experiences now help thousands of people, to take the leap of faith that she blindly accepted. Debbie believes that her heart for Haiti is not something that she developed, but instead, a divine calling and gift. When looking back at the struggles, tests, and lessons-learned, she believes that not knowing where each day, month and year would lead, has been her blessing biggest blessing.
