I read the First Edition of Ancient Egypt: Anatomy of a Civilization many years ago, and when I learned it had been updated, knew I had to read the revised version. It brings the ancient society to life in a way no other book I've read does. It avoids the trite "Hollywood" outlook on ancient Egypt, and focuses on the people as they went about their daily lives.
