Good. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall An Essay Awarded to Alvarenga Prize for 1901 by the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. Two inscriptions on flyleaf: "TO H. M. HANNA ESQ, IN APPRECIATION OF HIS SIGNAL AID TO SCIENTIFIC MEDICINE FROM GEORGE CRILE NOV 16 1901." Right below this inscription is a second one in a scrawled script: "To D. Roy McCullough(? ) as a long time research associate I have pleasure in inscribing this work George Crile". This inscription may have been by George W. Crile's son who also was a noted surgeon. Garrison Morton 5624: "Crile made important contributions to the knowledge regarding shock. He originated the theory that it is due to exhaustion of the vasomotor centre." 200 pp with illustrations. Last page with small abrasion upper right corner, bottom right edges of binding are chipped. Tiny embossed owner's stamp bottom of title page. Good sound unmarked copy.
