This book is a tremendous account of life in Mongolia at the time it was written. Being a missionary myself, it is especially poignant to the understanding of how the Mongols respond to true Christianity, as opposed to liberal religion today.
The most interesting thing about the account is that in spite of the many material changes, the mental processes of the people themselves have not really changed at all. That makes this book vital to the understanding of them as a people.
