Seller's Description:
Fair. No Jacket. 503 pages (complete). A scruffy, much owned and repaired book. Buel was a prolific author (he claimed to have had access to Buffalo Bill's diaries-although he was as generous with the truth as he was with his prose). This comprehensive, enthusiastic photographic essay of the beauties of the United States during the early days of photography. The cover is stoic and worn. It is marked, stained, scuffed, rubbed. The boards are firm and sound. Nonetheless the cover has character and presence. Inside, there are attempts at repair to the gutterings throughout. There are some very worn pages, but these are intact and sure against the binding. The bulk of the contents are very clean and clear, generous and satisfying, certain and very confident and resolute. An excellent snapshot of the US at the end of the 19th Century. Please note: the book is heavy! fk.
