Beautiful, not practical
This is a lovely book to look at but don't plan on recreating the styles you see. Most of us are not lucky enough to own an expansive adobe in Santa Fe; a restored Venetian style row house in Chicago; a converted barn in upstate New York with 22-foot beamed ceilings; a planation home in Louisia-... well, you get the idea. Like many decorating books, the rooms in this one are beautiful because they would be beautiful even empty! If you are looking for decorating ideas you can use in your suburban ranch home, this is not the book for you.
