The pamphlet borrows and remixes snippets of others' text to make the case for increased citizen participation in addressing society's most relevant and difficult concerns: incessant war and violence, financial crisis provoking widespread economic suffering and environmental degradation boarding on catastrophe. Traversing the intersection of two genres of contemporary art - appropriation and institutional critique - the booklet argues that to restore the promise of America, the 99% must declare their independence from the corrupt two-party system and wrest control of government from the billionaires and ethically-frozen politicians who preach the mutually related virtues of the free market and a permanent war economy.
