Fate makes up his mind for him when an act of gallantry to an Algerian girl and her brother, leads him to taking up arms with the Algerian Freedom Fighters. His love for the Algerian girl becomes his driving force and together they are involved in many escapades, some of a dangerous nature. George is finally caught by the Foreign Legion military police and during an incident in which shots are fired. His time in detention proves that the pen can be mightier than the sword, and each, in their own manner, are unique.
