After I bought and read the first book by Charles Hicks, featuring Alvin Fernald, I quickly collected all the others. So far I've read seven of the ten. Each one is unique and all of them are full of fun. Alvin's world was set in a time that is mostly just history now, sadly enough, but the books present the timeless qualities that are relevant to late childhood of any time. These books are wholesome, interesting, uplifting, and fully enjoyable.
