Produced between 1869 and 1930 -- the golden age of Carroll's influence on popular literature -- these works trace the extraordinarily creative, and often critical, response of diverse writers. This book acts as a sampler - giving short reviews of several books along with a chapter of each as extracts. Most of these books are difficult to obtain, but not impossible or expensive - so this gives you a taste of the book of this era (1869 to 1928).
Unfortunately it is limited to 20 books and has not been updated. There are several dozen books existant for each of it's catagories and this book does not even attempt to list these - so you must look elsewhere for a history of alternative alices.
