Jacob Dineson was born in 1951. His first novel, The Swarthy Young Man, written in 1877, was the first Yiddish bestseller. Dinezon published this book, Alter, in 1904. It's the story of an odd young man who gets most of what he wants in the world after paying a very high price and psychologically mirrors some of Dineson's own odd views of women. This book is being published as a companion to the English translation by Jane Peppler.
