A Space Symphony ( via Authonomy.com)
'Alpha One isn?t just your book?s title, but its status in relation to other science fiction novels and science fiction films as well. I?m a trekkie, and it reminds me of the best of Star Trek; I?m also a fan of aviation films, and it reminds me too of the best features of films like Top Gun--but it?s much, much better, and you go so far beyond the limits of the genres that you seem to have invented a genre of your own. You call this a space opera, but I think of it more as a space symphony since so many separate fascinating parts have been blended together so skillfully and effectively to create a unique, mesmerizing experience. I greatly admire how, with seeming effortlessness, you move from the galactic to the personal--from events in outer space to the actions and inner workings of your main characters, who represent the human race at its best. I also greatly admire your seamless interweaving of background and information into the narrative so the reader has the chance to look back and around while still moving rapidly forward.
