I cannot get enough of Howard's books. I think this is one of my favs (or a close 2nd/3rd). Shattering loss with kindered souls searching through their own guilt over 5 years leads two hearts back to each other. A love so large from first sight matches emotions with a guilt so huge over lost love. A plot that necessitates proximity makes bedlam with the two and ensures a story to pass through generations (should the people actually have existed - the story would be family lore). This is a must read for those who have loved/lost feel unworthy/distrustful - but still they hope. For, it shows that finding the path will heal the past. Noteworthy for the hero/heroine do not rage the same conflicts seen in many Howard books. Their's is a unique standing and their falling feels inevitable while entrancing the reader throughout.
