When it was first published in 1879, Kate Freiligrath-Kroeker's adaptation of "Alice in Wonderland" was the first time Lewis Carroll sanctioned a published edition of any dramatization of his novel. While other adaptations took liberties with the story, Freiligrath-Kroeker's adaptation was extremely faithful to Carroll's original. It proved very popular, especially for "home dramas."
