Heart Change v. Behavior change
This is an excellent resource for parents who are genuinely looking for a way to understand and influence their teens. Dr. Tripp focuses on the importance of working toward biblically based heart change rather than just behavior modification, acurately recognizing that our behavior is a direct result of what we believe and think (Luke 6:43-45). He also addresses strongly that parents need to face and deal with their own heart issues before they will really be able to help their teens with theirs (Matthew 7:1-6).
The study guide in the back of the book is very helpful to guide the parent to understand the concepts presented and then evaluate their lives/families in light of them.
I have used this resource with good results in both a small-group home bible study as well as in a Sunday school class.
