John Parker at his best. Good story, great writing.
This is one of those few books that the reader is saddened to finish.

Brilliantly Written!
This book has been much lambasted for not being "as good as" Parker's previously written running memoir, "Once a Runner."
However, I believe that it perfectly personifies the feelings of a post-collegiate, post-success, post-accolades runner. Although I am presently a collegiate runner, when I read the book, I was returning from an injury and a lot (almost all) of the emotions recorded by Parker in the book were emotions that I felt at that time. Just as Once a Runner is an iconic story telling of a runner's heart, soul, and mind, Again to Carthage is an iconic story telling of a runner on the comeback trail, and the difficulties, frustrations, and--eventually--glories that come with the efforts that such an athlete must put forth.
