Very Good with no dust jacket. This copy is SIGNED by the author and inscribed B. E. Hutchinson and dated 11/24/1939. (B. Edwin Hutchinson was the Vice President, Chrysler Corporation from 1925-1955. ) Ray Moley (1886-1975) was an American political economist and early supporter of Franklin D. Roosevelt. He conceived and orchestrated the New Deal, but by 1933 became disenchanted with the policies being enacted and eventually left the Democrat party and became a Republican. This book was written while the nation was still in the grips of the economic depression and provides an insider's account of the policy responses to the economic calamity. Bound in the original red cloth publisher's covers with black spine lettering on a silver background. There is a little wear to the spine letteing, and some spotting to the end papers, else this is a clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates. This is an important book by one of FDR's closest advisors which is not often found with an author's signature. Printed in October 1939, the first year of publication.; B&W Photos, Illustrations, Plans; 8vo, 8"-9" tall; 446 pages; Signed by Author.
