Natural language generation is a complex task requiring different kinds of expertise. This work aims to avoid the problems encountered by automatic translation projects in the past by opening the debate and integrating specialists from a variety of disciplines. The contributors to these volumes bring a diversity of perspectives to address the problems of natural language generation and to suggest solutions. This is the first volume of a two volume work.
