Daniel Gallery was one of the outstanding flag officers produced by the U.S. Navy in WWII, or perhaps any era. He was also a prolific writer, and a very entertaining one at that. This book studies his life, career, writings, and the controversies he was embroiled in during and after the war. Gallery was never one to avoid a fight, whether at sea or in the Pentagon, and was wickedly witty and amusing at the same time. I recommend this book highly. I also recommend "Twenty Million Tons Under the Sea", written by the old master himself, so that the reader can appreciate his talents at firsthand.
