The officers shall hold their office for a term of twelve months, and until their successors are regularly elected. All elections for officers must be held on a regular meeting of the board. In case of vacancy by death, removal, resignation, or otherwise, such vacancy may be filled by the Board at the next regular meeting occurring after such vacancy. Sec. 3. Be it further enacted, That no person who is mayor or frd' councilman shall be eligible as a member of the board of educa-wJioehgi tion. members. Sec. 4. Be it further enacted, That members of the board of education shall be elected by the town council, said election to fd,1 apply to the successors of the members of the present board, as election of. their various terms of office expire, said election to be held at the regular meeting of the council next preceding the end of the spring term of the schools. All vacancies in the board shall be Canton, Charter Amended. filled by the council at the next regular meeting of the council after notice to that body of a vacancy in the board. Sec. 5. Be it further enacted, That the treasurer shall, before oilman"' entering on the duties of his office as such, make an oath to faithbonddf-fully perform all duties of office.
