Upon hearing Tali in these works of Erkki-Sven Tüür, one is more likely to conclude "Man! Can she ever conduct!" Tali's sense of where and how to project the sound is uncanny; her work in interpreting Tüür's complex and busy Zeitraum is reminiscent of the clarity and balance achieved by Leonard Bernstein in some of the tougher works of Charles Ives. While Zeitraum might be difficult going for listeners attuned to more traditional fare, the second work of Tüür, Action, Passion, Illusion, should appeal to anyone who likes the orchestral music of Bartók or...
